Southern Cross Support Services (SCSS) is a leading Child Safety provider throughout QLD. Children, Youth & Family Services (CYF) team members play a vital role in ensuring that children and young people are offered a safe and stable environment to reach their goals. CYF work in accordance with the Sanctuary Model of Care framework.

As a Youth Worker, you may work with young people to:
  • Be a positive role model and allow children to feel safe, build resilience and work towards positive future outcomes
  • Support children and young people to build positive and trusting connections with family, friends, and community
  • Support children and young people to make healthy lifestyle choices, access health care services and develop strong social and interpersonal skills
  • Provide outreach support to children and young people who are dis-engaged from placements
  • Provide the day-to-day care of all children in the residential care setting as required
  • Learn life skills in a planned and supportive way
  • Provide and participate in appropriate recreational activities for and with the children

CYF programs operate 24/7 which includes shift work (sleepovers and weekends)

Requirements prior to commencement:
  • Blue Card for Working with Children (currently hold or be eligible to apply for)
  • NDIS Worker Screening (currently hold or be eligible to apply for)
  • Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2)
  • Hold or be willing to enrol into a Cert 4 or higher recognised qualification
  • Driver’s licence (P2 minimum)
  • Hope & Healing modules
  • Smartphone with internet access
  • CPR Certificate (willing to obtain)
