Southern Cross Support Services (SCSS) is a leading Child Safety provider throughout QLD. Children, Youth & Family Services (CYF) team members play a vital role in ensuring that children and young people are offered a safe and stable environment to reach their goals. CYF work in accordance with the Sanctuary Model of Care framework.

We are seeking Residential Care Workers to support young people with diabetes, key responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to young people with diabetes, including monitoring blood glucose levels, administering insulin, and ensuring dietary needs are met.
  • Educate and empower young people to manage their diabetes independently.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, caregivers, and other team members to create a safe and supportive environment.
  • Develop and implement diabetes education and awareness programs.
  • Monitor and respond to any diabetes-related emergencies promptly and effectively.
  • Certification or extensive training in diabetes management.
CYF programs operate 24/7 which includes shift work (sleepovers, weekends, and possibly awake shifts).

Requirements prior to commencement:
  • Blue Card for Working with Children (currently hold or be eligible to apply for)
  • NDIS Worker Screening (currently hold or be eligible to apply for)
  • Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2)
  • Hold or be willing to enrol into a Cert 4 or higher recognised qualification
  • Driver’s licence (P2 minimum)
  • Hope & Healing modules
  • Smartphone with internet access
  • CPR Certificate (willing to obtain)
