A message from our CEO, Cheryl Barrett regarding Southern Cross Support Services (SCSS) response to COVID-19

With circumstances changing every day with COVID-19, I would like to advise you that SCSS continues to assess our practices and plan and implement additional practices to keep abreast of the COVID-19 situation to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our clients and staff.

We will continue to implement strategies to prevent the spread of the virus within our workplaces (these include homes), and at this time can confirm that there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 across any of our services or offices.

We are following the Department of Health’s advice in relation personal hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus with a thorough hygiene campaign released throughout our organisation including rolling out additional education and training for all staff. We are providing the latest information to staff to ensure that they are aware of the current situation and have implemented dedicated staff and client hotlines. Some of our offices will be closed with staff working from home to minimise the risk to all, however, we can be contacted on our normal office number 1300 727 701 or if you have questions about how we are managing COVID-19 you can call 07 4111 2693. The Department of Health has a 24/7 hotline: 1800 020 080.

It is important that you continue to observe the advice provided by leading experts and authorities by visiting the Australian Government Department of Health website for the most up to date resources.

Please be assured that the health and wellbeing of our clients, staff and their families are at the centre of everything we do, and we are taking the risk posed by COVID-19 extremely seriously.

Southern Cross Support Services sends out a huge thank you to everyone working on the frontlines of this crisis - from the support and health workers to the scientists working 24 hours a day to find a vaccine, we truly are grateful for all you do.

Personally, I urge you all to look out for those more vulnerable members of our community and be kind to all in these uncertain times.
