About Us
Southern Cross Family Day Care is well established and the preferred FDC provider and is now a highly respected education and care service to Bundaberg, Wide Bay Region, Rockhampton and surrounding areas. Our scheme is a community based organisation offering professional education and care to children in the homes of contracted Educators. Educators, their home education and care environments are assessed and approved by the Coordinators in accordance with the National Quality Framework and Scheme policies and procedures.

This is a part time role initially, 3 days per week (with a genuine opportunity to increase, with the target as a full-time position as the number of Educators increase).

About the Role
As a Family Day Care Coordinator, you will be supporting, coaching and mentoring Family Day Care Educators who operate their own child care services within Rockhampton and surrounding areas.
As a Coordinator you will work with our coordination staff, Educators as well as children and their families in providing a high-quality education and care service in alignment with the Scheme.
No two days will be the same in this role, though your responsibilities as a Coordinator will be consistent. All Educators individual businesses’ are unique, so you will need to provide the following:

Educator Support:
  • Have a high regard for Educators and their goals to provide a high-quality service to the community.
  • Support and guide Educators through regular home visits.
  • Work with Educators to ensure their needs and the family’s needs are reflected in childcare placements.
Educator Recruitment:
  • Ongoing advertising and recruitment of new Educators.
  • Supporting the educators through initial engagement, assessment, registration and induction process.
Relationship building:
  • Build positive collaborative relationships with co-ordination unit staff, educators, families, children, and key stakeholders and local community which are respectful and meaningful.
Administration:
  • Respond promptly to emails and phone calls.
  • Assist with taking childcare inquiries.
  • Engage and support families through the enrolment procedure.
  • Ensure current forms, policies and templates are being used.
Compliance:
  • Oversee the compliance requirements on regular home visits and conduct full audits of educator environments on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with input for the Quality Improvement Plan of the Scheme.
  • Assist with the induction and training of new educators.
Marketing and Promoting the Scheme:
  • Use approved social media tools to promote the Scheme.
  • Good personal presentations.
  • Use approved marketing materials.
  • Attend local community events promoting SCFDC.
  • Report monthly on marketing/promotion of SCFDC in the Rockhampton region.
Workplace Health and Safety:
  • Adhere and promote WHS practices and processes to ensure the safety of self and others.

To be suitable for this position, the requirements for the role will consist of:
  • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Children’s Services
  • Positive Notice Blue Card
  • Unencumbered current Drivers Licence and reliable vehicle
  • Current First Aid (including CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificates)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF) including the National Education and Care Services Law and Regulations
  • Working knowledge of Child Development
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to connect with a diverse range of people, and
  • Excellent computer and administrative skills
