This exciting opportunity is available with Southern Cross Support Services (SCSS), based in Bundaberg.

SCSS is an NDIS and Child Safety provider servicing QLD with our head office based in Bundaberg. Our core business is providing a range of disability and Child Protection services to meet the needs of those that are most vulnerable in our community.


SCSS is seeking someone passionate about Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) to work within the WHS Department to help monitor, support and improve WHS outcomes across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • At a minimum, a Cert IV qualification in WHS
  • One (1) or more years experience in a similar role
  • A detailed understanding of QLD WHS Legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards
  • Experience conducting site safety inspections
  • Incident management and investigation experience
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
  • Effective administration, planning, time management and computer skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude
  • The ability and willingness to travel regularly to SCSS sites across QLD
The following will be considered advantageous:
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment and training experience
  • Fire Safety Advisor Qualification
  • Experience with Return to work and injury management
  • Previous experience in the community services sector

  • Contributing to and supporting a positive WHS culture
  • Developing and maintaining constructive working relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting and providing WHS advice to stakeholders in line with established procedures
  • Assist with reviewing and developing WHS systems (procedures, documents, etc.)
  • Scheduling, conducting and reporting on regular site WHS inspections
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing risk minimisation strategies
  • Incident Management and Investigation
  • Hazard identification and reporting
  • Chemical and Safety Data Sheet Management
  • Administration of WHS systems, registers and records

  • Suitability Blue Card for Working with Children and Young People
  • Positive Notice Criminal History Check - Yellow Card or NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Child Safety and Criminal History Screening - LCS2
  • Drivers Licence
